About

If a tree falls in a forest… you get the picture. If art is created but not seen, is it still art? All forms of art have some form of creative expressionism in them, whether it be emotional, logical, political or nonsensical. It has been said that “a true thing expressed poorly is a lie.” A joke which does not elicit laughter somehow ceases to be a joke. The intent is lost, and a new perspective is given, often in the case of poorly executed jokes, either confusion or offence, the tree in this case has fallen, but landed on the author.

The I in art started out as a way to appreciate the creative process, in a manner that better reflects the role of the creator. We want to create a discussion to better understand how art, in all it’s forms, is created, right from inception to production. Just as interesting though, is the role that art plays in the lives of those who consume it, and the way that the artist has a continued relationship with their creation. The I in art is interested in the philosophy of art, the meaning and the intention.

The I in art will produce a regular podcast with creators, such as; painters, singers, comedians, writers, film makers, entrepreneurs..., where we will sit down an discuss, just what it means to be an artist, and what their art means to them.

The I in art will also produce further opinion pieces, ranging from how we consume various forms of art, what makes a good artist, experiences with different art forms and so on. These will be wide ranging and hopefully be written by knowledgeable and passionate contributors. These may be developed into further cross media productions in the future.
